Frances and Dave

We are a very small well established site catering for caravans, motor homes and campers. The site offers the peace and quiet of a grown-ups only environment and is open May to September.

We are nestled in the beautiful unspoilt Dordogne countryside and situated in the Parc Naturel Perigord-Limousin, some 7 kilometres from the town of Nontron.

Manzac Ferme is forest cloaked, on the river Bandiat, surrounded by lakes and deserted roads. It is a truly idyllic location.

Our unique site has been purposely designed to cater sympathetically and exclusively for the needs of adults so that visitors can enjoy the tranquil quiet surroundings by the calm river.  We also welcome your four-legged companions.

We warmly invite you to share with us the sun-blessed countryside, filled with bird song and colourful butterflies busy pollinating the abundant flora.

In the day you’ll see plentiful wildlife, from birds of prey overhead to deer in the surrounding woodland. At night the clear black sky makes for fantastic star-gazing and a possible sighting of the International Space Station!  Finally go off to sleep to the sound of owls.

There is plenty of opportunity to relax and re-charge the batteries. Leave the cares of the world behind, venture perhaps along the numerous unspoilt forest tracks on foot or cycle.

You may like to try your hand at fishing on our own stretch of the river Bandiat, which forms a necklace around our site.

To check on availability, or make a booking, please click on our Book Now button. If you would like to know more or have any questions go to our contact page if you have an enquiry. Otherwise, do explore the rest of our website for details of local attractions and further details.

We look forward to welcoming you to Manzac Ferme.

About Us

We came to view Manzac Ferme and the lovely campsite on the river Bandiat in a window of travel that was allowed in August 2020 during the Covid crisis!   We fell in love and came back again in October to sign papers and moved our lives here to this tranquil area of the North Dordogne on the 8th December.

We are currently settling in and adjusting to a new way of life…coming from busy 24/7 Southampton to the French countryside has been an interesting adventure so far, but one that we are enjoying very much, mistakes and all!   We are exploring the area on foot, bike and car so that we can share our experiences with our visitors when you can finally travel again with no restrictions.

Frances taught Pilates for 20 years in the UK and together we led Nordic Walking groups in the New Forest.   We do hope to be able to share some of these activities with future guests.

We are making plans around the grounds to continue all the improvements and hard work that Margaret and Georges have put in over the past 9 years.   They are a tough act to follow as all the 5 star TripAdvisor reviews show,  so we have our work cut out to perfect our hosting skills.

We are looking forward to a positive 2021 and are very much looking forward to meeting all the new and the many repeat guests this Summer and sharing the ‘peace and tranquillity’ of Manzac Ferme with you all.

COVID 19

April 2020

Our precautions at Manzac Ferme against Covid 19 will be continually evolving according to current guidelines.

The only shared facilities are the Washrooms comprising of two toilets and two showers, plus a washing up sink. These will be cleaned regularly as part of our standard cleaning protocol with the addition of hand sanitisers at the entrance/exit which we would ask you to use before entering. There will be a one way system in operation.

We are sure that we have all become more adjusted to the restrictions of wearing masks, washing hands frequently etc. and expect this may continue for the foreseeable future.

One of the many benefits of a camping, self catering holiday in your own accommodation is that you are in control of your own environment.

Our campsite has only 11 spacious pitches and they are well spaced out from each other so you can come and stay confident in being able to maintain social distancing with minimum effort.

Manzac Ferme is in a beautiful quiet area for walking, cycling and just relaxing with no need to come into contact with anyone other than perhaps a trip to the Boulangerie or the supermarket, which if like us you go between 12.00 and 14.00 you are unlikely to meet many other people!

Kate and John Stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed our visit. Margaret and Georges were excellent hosts, very friendly and helpful. Quiet, peaceful site for adults only. Lovely walk along the river on site. Spotlessly clean toilets and showers. We shall definitely return to this wonderful idyllic site.

Most beautiful campsite! We spent 6 nights on the beautiful campsite of Margaret and George. The small campsite in the countryside with only 11 pitches is very quiet, so the mornings and evenings were very relaxing. The showers are spacious, clean and have hot water. The toilets were also always clean. A small bathing lake is only 10 minutes away from the campsite and also the numerous beautiful towns and villages are within easy reach. George and Margaret always gave us great advice what place to visit 🙂 What made the stay perfect were George and Margaret themselves, who were always very hospitable! There was not a day where we didn’t have a little chat. Thank you so much for giving us such a warm welcome! We felt very comfortable with you 🙂 Do yourselves a favour and visit the camping site! You will have a wonderful holiday! We would love to come back 🙂 Best regards, Claudia & Benni

Perfect in every way We first visited Manzac Ferme 3 years ago. This August was the first chance we had to return. Felt like going home! Still the best campsite we have ever visited. Margaret and Georges were wonderful hosts and couldn’t do enough to help, from great communication before our trip ( change of dates due to Covid), to Georges being on hand on arrival with a wheelbarrow to help transport our gear and Margaret offering refreshments. We camped on an amazing pitch down by the river which has been cleared and opened up since our last visit. Dappled sunshine during the days and stars and owls at night. Shower and communal facilities spotless. Quiet location but lots to do in the area. Lovely forest walks from the site, swimming in lakes a short drive away and trips to Brantome and local markets a must. Cant recommend enough. Thank you so much for making us welcome, cant wait to return… with any luck, next year.

Peaceful Retreat in the Forest Lovely welcome from Margaret and George. The campsite was perfect in every way. From the spotless shower room to the pitch itself; protected from the sun in dappled light, under old oak trees with birdsong and owls hooting as we fell asleep. The area nearby is full of Lakes for swimming and nearby markets for fresh fruit and delicious vegetables.

JUST PERFECT We wanted a quiet, kids free site and this ticked all the boxes. We stayed for 12 nights in our caravan and could have stayed longer. After a long drive from Caen ferry, Margaret greeted us with welcoming cold drinks and then Georges helped us site our caravan. Our hosts were most attentive during our stay and assisted us with suggestions for trips and booked a grotto for us. The caravan pitches are a good size, with all having an open aspect towards a wooded area. The facilities are excellent and kept spotless by our hosts. If you want a peaceful holiday in beautiful surroundings, this is the place. Chris from Chester

Idyllic campsite in the Dordogne On arrival at this most picturesque campsite, we were greeted by Georges and Margaret.. two friendly, knowledgeable and helpful hosts. We could not have imagined how peaceful, beautiful and stunning the scenery would be just by looking around from our pitch It is set within easy reach of lakes and villages and on arrival we were given a very detailed and useful guide to all the local amenities and points of interest which we used daily Walks, bike rides through stunning local woodland and country side was one of the many highlights. We simply could not recommend this highly enough for its unique setting and wonderful hosting by Georges and Margaret …. so see you next year for another tranquil but adventurous trip The most beautiful camp site we have ever stayed ?

Another trip in paradise We have just come home from 10 amazing nights at Manzac Ferme. We stayed last year and loved it so much we had to come back. As soon as we arrived back everything was even lovelier than we had remembered! Margaret and Georges are the perfect hosts. The facilities are spotless, the campsite is so peaceful and quiet with lovely views. Plenty to do in the local area if you want to explore.

Lovely stay in the wild Perfect Boutique Camping! We stayed in Manzac for one week and it was perfect. On the plus side: – a lovely couple who run this place with their lifelong experience in hosting (who both speak perfect english) – great and grand tent places, with electricity – a little river and a lot of quietness all day and night – a lot to see, the possibility of hiking and sightseeing If you want to unwind, have nice chats and just relax, this is your place to be.

In kurz: Top – würden jeder Zeit wieder kommen.
