A Rural Retreat, Offering Peace and Tranquility

We are a very small well established site catering for caravans, motor homes and campers. The site offers the peace and quiet of a grown-ups only environment and is open May to September.

We are nestled in the beautiful unspoilt Dordogne countryside and situated in the Parc Naturel Perigord-Limousin, some 7 kilometres from the town of Nontron.

Manzac Ferme is forest cloaked, on the river Bandiat, surrounded by lakes and deserted roads. It is a truly idyllic location.

Our unique site has been purposely designed to cater sympathetically and exclusively for the needs of adults so that visitors can enjoy the tranquil quiet surroundings by the calm river.  We also welcome your four-legged companions.

We warmly invite you to share with us the sun-blessed countryside, filled with bird song and colourful butterflies busy pollinating the abundant flora.

In the day you’ll see plentiful wildlife, from birds of prey overhead to deer in the surrounding woodland. At night the clear black sky makes for fantastic star-gazing and a possible sighting of the International Space Station!  Finally go off to sleep to the sound of owls.

There is plenty of opportunity to relax and re-charge the batteries. Leave the cares of the world behind, venture perhaps along the numerous unspoilt forest tracks on foot or cycle.

You may like to try your hand at fishing on our own stretch of the river Bandiat, which forms a necklace around our site.

To check on availability, or make a booking, please click on our Book Now button. If you would like to know more or have any questions go to our contact page to send us an email. We have a minimum booking on line  of 3 nights during July and August but do contact us directly as we may be able to be flexible.

Otherwise, do explore the rest of our website for details of local attractions and further details.

We look forward to welcoming you to Manzac Ferme.

About Us

We came to view Manzac Ferme and the lovely campsite on the River Bandiat in a window of travel that was allowed in August 2020 during the Covid crisis!   We fell in love and came back again in October to sign papers and moved our lives here to this tranquil area of the North Dordogne on the 8th December 2020.

After our first successful season of 2021 we are now settled and more adjusted to our new way of life in France. Coming from busy 24/7 Southampton to the French countryside has been an interesting adventure so far, but one that we are enjoying very much, mistakes and all!   We continue to explore our local area on foot, bike and car so that we can share our experiences with our visitors.

Frances taught Pilates for 20 years in the UK and together we led Nordic Walking groups in the New Forest.   We do hope to be able to share some of these activities with future guests.

We are very much looking forward to meeting all the new and many repeat guests again this Summer to share the ‘peace and tranquillity’ of Manzac Ferme.

COVID 19

Our precautions at Manzac Ferme against Covid 19 will be continually evolving according to current guidelines.

The only shared facilities are the Washrooms comprising of two toilets and two showers, plus a washing up sink. These will be cleaned regularly as part of our standard cleaning protocol with the addition of hand sanitisers at the entrance/exit which we would ask you to use before entering.

One of the many benefits of a camping, self catering holiday in your own accommodation is that you are in control of your own environment.

Our campsite has large pitches and they are well spaced out from each other so you can come and stay confident in being able to maintain social distancing with minimum effort.

Manzac Ferme is in a beautiful quiet area for walking, cycling and just relaxing with no need to come into contact with anyone other than perhaps a trip to the Boulangerie or the supermarket, which if like us you go between 12.00 and 14.00 you are unlikely to meet many other people!

The best campsite in the South of France, (probably the whole world) Upon arriving at Manzac Ferme we were greeted by both Frances and Dave who showed us to our motorhome pitch (pitch 6) and then gave us a tour of the beautifully kept grounds & facilities before offering a glass of wine. Two of the most delightful, helpful people you can meet. We had glorious weather for our two week stay and the shade of trees kept us comfortable in and out of our motorhome. I have never been able to let my mind forget about work until I came here. The phones were off and we just relaxed. One day we decided to take the rowing boat down the river for an hour and this is a must just to appreciate your surroundings if you haven’t already in the seven acres of campsite Manzac Ferme has to offer. The nearest place we found to stock up with food and maybe a little wine is about 15 minutes drive away but it is a delight to drive in this rural location. There are so many beautiful places to visit and I have added a few photos, there just wasn’t enough time to visit everywhere we wanted to see. We did get to visit the very sobering town of Oradour-sur-Glane, which houses a museum explaining it’s very sad history. This is just an hours drive away. I could go on and on about our two week stay here but I will suffice to say that we will be returning in the near future. A beautiful place and beautiful people. I wasn’t going to leave a review purely down the the fact that I want to keep this place all to myself, but that wouldn’t be fair on everyone else. You will not be disappointed staying here.

10/10 Fran and David were the perfect hosts from welcoming us on arrival, to a quick chat at night and again every morning to make sure everything was OK. There is even emergency rations of beer and wine (and milk) in the fridge in case you run out ! This is the perfect site for a quiet and peaceful break, surrounded by stunning forests This was our second visit and will definitely be returning. Diane and Andy (and Little Mo the camper)

One night at manzac Ferme Very nice and warm welcome by Frances and Dave. They even proposed welcome drink. Frances showed us our spot for the night and showed us around her camping, indicating the points of interest, showers, waste and the riverside. She also gave me a helpful tip where I could walk my dogs in the surroundings of the camping.

First rate and friendly rural campsite Spent one week at Manzac Ferme in camping car with my dog. Very well organised small campsite with friendly and helpful hosts/owners Dave and Frances. The farm is in the heart of the forest. The grounds are beautifully laid out for privacy for tents and vans alike. Pathways to walk around within the grounds are well laid out with seating placed along the pathway at various locations. And the paths connect up to longer forest walks in the area. Local towns only a few minutes drive away.

Peaceful retreat in the shade Small camping a dozen or so pitches. The tent pitches are spacious and surrounded by trees to give you privacy and shade. If you are staying near the river, you will have to do a bit of a climb up the hill to go to the toilet and showers. That said, the facilities are small, but spotless and well maintained. There is a small fridge where you can buy small luxeries like chocolate and wine, but also with a few shelves to place you own items. Frances and Dave makes her daily round to check in with the campers and they are always willing to answer questions or give you tips on what to do in the area. I find the crowd that stay there to be friendly (greetings when you see them) but very much happy to give you your privacy and space. Great if you are not looking for chatty neighbours. Due to it being adults only, it is a quiet camping where it is easy to sleep in and spend days in your hammock (BYO or use the ones on the grounds). Would absolutely stay again.

A gem of a site A very lovely site. Frances and Dave were fantastic hosts. The showers and toilets were always spotless. The provision of treats, purchased via an honesty box was brilliant (crisps, chocolate and wine what more could you ask for). Such a super couple who went out of their way to be helpful, sharing their local knowledge and their enthusiasm for the area rubs off on you. We wish you all the best in your new life and hopefully your hard work and commitment will see the site flourish and gave you years of enjoyment.

Great location, great hosts We went here five days in july. It’s cosy, super calm with the most beautiful pitches to put up your tent. Absolutely recommend this camping! Has everything it is supposed to have without unnecessary luxuries. Clean sanitary.

Some Guest's Comments

In kurz: Top – würden jeder Zeit wieder kommen. –  Z L, Germany
